Hi.
My dad had a heart attack on Friday. Doctors at Sloan say he seems to be improving. He is off the respirtator and is off the mini dysalis machine. They believe the hydriene meds which was given at the L.I. site was bad. He was allergic to it. When the platlets do not go up that is a sign of an allergic reaction. They believe this caused blood clots. Which caused the heart attack. They belive the clot is from the hydriene pic line, which was given in Long Island. Dr. from Sloan said they typically do not use hydriene. We wish we got dad here sooner. Hopefully, it is not too late. Friends and family in the field have said that he would have died if we did not come to Sloan and we realize he still can die. But these doctors all work together to give him the best care. To help my dad relax they had a psychiatrist, massage therapist, and music therapist. Dad is much calmer and is responding to the treatment. Last Sunday, they called and got a doctor from NY Pres. -Cornell Weill hospital to treat his kidneys. It is such a blessing to have such smart and caring doctors. I noticed, that each doctor makes an effort to speak to my mother and me.
We believe he is getting the best care at Sloan. Your prayers are helping him. Your support is helping me help him. Please keep them coming.
Love and prayers,
Barbara Anne
Barbara; I'm so sorry to hear he had a heart attack; but I'm thankful.. SO THANKFUL- that he is at SK finally. I'm so thankful you guys drove him there when you did. I'm sorry that it took this to get him there.
Was going to email you yesterday but I couldn't. It was my dads 5 year "deathiversary".. I thought of you all day; & just could not bring myself to email in case it was bad.
As I've told you; my dad passed from a PICC line gone bad; I hope your dad is able to be saved & I'm glad to read he's calming down.
~Hugs to you & your mom
