it has been two years after I had Hifu, and I am very happy that I am without any side effects and that my last PSA from a week ago remains at 0.06 or undetectable

Hi there,

Glad to hear you are doing well after the HIFU.. i am curious to know what your PSA reading was BEFORE the treatment, as I myself am considering the HIFU..by the way, my PSA is only at 0.6 but have been told not to delay..I am still sticking with the "watchful waiting" approach and checking my bloodwork every three months.

All the best to you!   Alan.

hi Alan:

WOW, you sure have a very low PSA.

Mine was about 6 or 7 for several years but the biopsy did not detect any cancerous cells at the biopsy, and when it shot up to 16, I changed doctors and they found I had cancer. Because of my age and physical conitions they suggested radiation and hormone treatment.  .I refused  and decided on HIFU and went to Munich and had it done by the team that has done over 10,000 HIFU's. I think I was very fortunate and after two years never had any side effects and my PSA is at the level 0.05-0.06.

Good Luck

Hi Ciscox,

Recently diagnosed right side tumors, PSA 5.7, T1c, Gleason 3+3, prostate ht. 3.9cm.

After weeks of intensive research of all available treatments, I'm headed for Munich, Germany for HIFU in 6 weeks time. That is after greenlight laser therapy in Vegas for size reduction.  I opted for non-invasive, as it promises a great outcome. If not, it's likely HIFU should be both improved and available in the US.

I based my choice of clinic on: (i) find the best craftsman with lots of experience, (ii) at the best price ~$14,000 US for HIFU, (of which 60% will be recovered from my PPO).

OK, so I speak some german, but you'll find most folks in Deutschland, speak english, particulaly the doctors.
