Stage IV Now

My husband was diagnosed in November '08 with Stage III renal cell cancer 80% clear cell and 20% sarcomatoid.  It spread to his lungs now but seems to be contained.  He just finished his first cycle of Sutent and went through it fine.  No major side effects other than his feet felt like they were on fire and it hurt to stand on them a long time.  He is due to be scanned next Wednesday to see if the sutent worked.  Hopefully, the tumors are shrinking.  If not, we had talked about looking into the BMC in Mexico. (The Biomedical Center) and seeing if they could help us.  Have any of you heard of them or used them at all?  I had not heard all positive about the Oasis of Life but don't know anyone that went there....Just considering alternative medicine too.  I keep telling my husband that I firmly believe that God has the cure to cancer here on Earth, we just need to find it!!!!

Please, if anyone has any information or suggestions, we could use it!

I would recommend that you continue with the treatment prescribed (Sutent) and if that does not work, be ready to try something else. You should be in the hands of an oncologist who is considered an expert in kidney cancer. Contact the Kidney Cancer Association for suggestions in your area of the country.

I have not heard of any successful treatments in Mexico. Many of the facilities offer false help. Alternative medicine ideas including guided imagery, prayer, etc. offer help without a significant outlay of $.

Thank you...We will continue with our oncologist and hope the sutent is working.  We see Dr. Tannir at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.

We had read a book on someone who went to the BMC who said it had a high success rate of healing people.  I guess when you're in this situation you just want to try everything and anything to make your loved one well!

I have been reading these message boards to see our options too.  We thought with kidney cancer, you take the kidney out and your better but not so...this dreadful disease keeps coming back!!!

Anyone on here have any success stories with rcc mets to the lungs? Thank you for any information~
