Husband starting chemo tomorrow

My husband who is 43 years old is starting chemo tomorrow after radiation to his brain 15 treatments, and his lung, 10 treatments.  He has been diagnosed with IV stage lung cancer with mets to the brain, after a PET recently his lung tumor has shrunk 50 percent and only a small spot in his other lung shows cancer.  Of course we do not know about the 3 spots that were spoted in his brain, hopefully the radiation helped there too.  He is feeling better, less pain,I just pray that he tolerates the chemo as well as the radiation.  I will keep you posted, you are all in my thoughts and prayers, Karen

  This is good news about your husband!  He tolerated the radiation and how the chemicals are going to go after the tumor.  By now hehas had his first infusion and he probably feels pretty good.  Sometimes the side effects don't come on for two or three or a few days.  Don't get discouraged if he starts to feel really lousy (he might have no side effects at all). I was on chemo for stage IV nsclc for 5 months and the tumor shrank considerably.  I'm on Tarceva now and feeling well.  Your husband's youth is on his side.  I'm praying and pulling for you both. 

Hi thanks for your concern, just a little update on my husband, he had his first chemo of carbo, taxol, and avastin on Wed, long day!!, he did well, slept most of the time, also has felt fine since treatment.  I know it is early, hopefully he will continue to feel well.  The doctor did allow him to go back on small dose of decadron, he felt more tired without it.  Today he went for an injection to help his white cell count.  Next Wed back for more blood tests, then the next Wed Avastin.  I will keep you all updated and appreciate this site and the people here.  We are all here to help each other and I truly appreciate any help I can receive,  You are in my prayers, take care all, Karen
