PC-SPES

From what I've read, some 10,000 men with prostate
cancer in the US and Canada were taking the Chinese
formula called PC-SPES, which had estrogenic effects
and was originally developed for hormone refractory
prostate cancer. It comprised some 8 herbs.

From both anecdotal and scientific studies, it appeared
to work fairly well. Some of these men were surviving
for years, keeping their cancers at bay and PSA markers
down. The properties of the herbs did cause some blood
clotting and other adverse hormonal effects.

It also had activity in androgen-independent prostate cancer,
i.e. whose proliferation is non-hormone dependent, or is not
driven by testosterone.

Unfortunately, it seems the herbs where the above formula
was sourced from, in China, became contaminated with
warfarin, since this factory also manufactured this drug.
This resulted in some serious adverse effects and a few fatalities.
There also appeared to be contamination with DES.

The company marketing the formula in the US was closed
down and the owners, a Chinese couple, indicted, resulting
in an outcry from the above sufferers to no avail, sometime
around 2001, I think.

PC-SPES is thus no longer available, but a revised formula,
PC-SPES 2, is being made by another factory in the UK.

I'm not sure if I am allowed to post these links, but if not,
my apologies to the forum's adminstrators.

PS-SPES also had activity in other cancers such as leukemia,
small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer.

I took PC-Specs for two years and it had no affect on my psa.

All I got was sore nipples and wasted a lot of money. There is a class action suit going on because this supplement contained durgs that can only be gotten by prescription.

Many of the supplement coming form China contain unsafe levels of heavy metals and should'nt be trusted.

Hi Johnt Strange how some people try to make money out of yeah  When your really sick, then the stuff they sell you makes you even sicker. I know dietary agents such as pomegranate extract (PE) works on prostrate cancer but I found out to my cost that the pomegranate juice makes it worst I think it’s the sugar in it How much did this Pc-spes cost you any way. I wonder why CC member Tham  said  it had activity in androgen-independent prostate cancer if you read this Post Tham Can you let me know. I know that the pomegranate extract (PE) works on androgen-independent prostate cancer Mine androgen hormone dependent prostrate cancer  How your PSA did it have any effect on it. Since 2007 I’ve search high and low to find some thing that worked with my prostrate cancer. I’ve tried a lot of alterative treatments Zeolite and High dose vitamin C got my PSA down from 10.8 to 8.2 and my free PSA come up from 4 to 8  to  but to take the amount of zeolite you would need and the long time one would need to take it it seems it  would cost a very large sum of money. From 2007 to now  I taken high dose vitamin C. It wisent to bad it keeping  my PSA from going up, but it stop working after a year or so . strange how plant products work,  like the herbs PC-SPES  The only other thing I’ve found to work for me is two plant products that have a lot of  isoflavones in them. Like red clover and soy beans. I had a post from a prostrate cancer patient. who said to me he cooks  with the soy flour  makes 4 biscuits out of the flour with chocolates beads on them  and eats one every few hours I know soy flour has 199mg per 100g of isoflavones in it my PSA come down at last  isoflavones work on androgen deprivation of only the cancer cells but don’t have the nasty side effects you get with androgen deprivation therapy which deprive the whole body of the sex hormones cheers Ray

If you think they are trying to sell you products which

make you sicker, then you should not buy them or take

them. One has free choice.

The studies on PC-SPES 2 were given above, if

you care to read them. Here they are once more.

The two studies you have show state that the PC-SPES 2 works well on prostrate cancer looks like to me the problem is with the producer not the PC-SPES 2 .I’m getting good results with the 160mg of red clover I’m on now so I don’t need to try PC-SPES 2,

Getting back to the start of your last post What if one dos not know the products will harm them. But was given  advice it will help them. ie I once got advise that pomegranate juice in studies have has shown to help with prostrate cancer. so I went out and bought it and tried it. I then found it push my psa up and made my condition worst then before remove the sugar from pomegranate juice the extrack works grate the thing is I cant get the pomegranate juice estrack from my country Austrailia

If I think they are trying to sell me products which make me sicker I would avoid them so I don’t under stand what you mean by one has free choice if one dos not know it will make one sicker where the choice

You just use your common sense when taking drugs,
herbs, supplements or putting anything into your mouth,
for that matter.

Nobody knows how you will react for sure to any substance.
A matter of free choice means you have the free right to
choose to buy or not to buy something, and also free right
to take or not to take orally. Plain common sense. No one
can force you.

Everyone is an individual. What makes you sick, may be
perfectly alright to others, even most others. For example,
if I try to take neem tablets, even one, I will purge. I gave
two of them to my office manager, who takes them like
candy. Many other people also take neeem without problems.

I have ordered some Ayurvedic herbal tablets from India for
my hemorrhoids. After taking them for a few days without
any side effects, I started having diarrhea one day, purging
8 times, I remember. I think there was also some neem in
the formula. I had to stop taking them.

As little as 20 to 30 acetaminophen (Tylenol in your country)
may be enough to shut down the livers of some people. Yet
there have been others who have taken over 100 without
fatal results.

I read in another forum about one guy who made a tea from
sweet (or blue) violet leaves plus red clover blossoms for
prostate cancer, and had good results. Seems he drank a
quart or two a day.

You can get sweet/blue violet from most herb stores.
It is a powerful cancer fighter in its own right.

http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/learn/blue_violet.php

The botanical name for sweet violet is Viola odarata.
The related plants, Wild Pansy (Viola arvensis) and
Heartsease (Viola tricolor) also have anticancer action.

I believe the reason why red clover is particulaly helpful
for prostate cancer because is because its four main
cancer-fighting flavonoids - biochanin A, formononetin,
genistein and diadzein - are also phytoestrogens.

I didn't know that wheat flour aggravates hemorrhoids.
Must be an inflammatory allergic reaction.

I eat bread regularly. Will have to cut down then, but
then one doesn't know what else to eat.

Nobody over here makes bread from wheat flour substitutes
like millet, buckwheat, amaranth or quinoa. The bakeries
here are very backward and have never heard of them.
