My father has stage iv renal cell cancer that started about 2 years ago. In that time he has undergone 3 major surgeries. all of the treatments they have tried have failed. in the last month he first started to become incoherent, at that time we took him to the er and they discovered the tumors were in the brain. since then he has undergone radiation and completed all treatments. yesterday he had major trouble urinating so we took him back to the er. the doctor discovered major amounts of blood clots in his bladder. hopeing it is'nt his kidney since his other one was removed during his first surgery, what could it be. Please if anyone could give some detail on what is going on i would be forever greatful. has anyone gone through this?

I'm sorry you haven't yet got any replies to your posting. It could just be that no one here can comment usefully for you, as indeed, nor can I.

I can suggest another source of information for you, though, which you may find helpful. If you are not already on it, there is a truly excellent mailing list for RCC patients, called kidney-onc, which you can join on http://cancerguide.org/kofaq/

There is huge collective expertise there, and I've yet to see a question posed by a patient that has not had an answer.

All the very best to you at such a worrying time. Julie.

I just ran across your post.  A lot of time has gone by since you wrote it and I suspect you have your answer by now by your father's actual experience, but those were the symptoms for my initial kidney cancer.  I experienced inability to urinate and blood clots in the bladder caused by a tumor on my left kidney.
