Subject: Recurrent Ovarian Cancer
Date: 11/16/2005
In March of 2004, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After surgery, 6 months of aggressive chemotherapy, and a second look surgery, I was told that I was in remission. I had check-ups every 3 months, which included an internal exam and a CA125 blood test. For over a year, I was fine. Then on October 15,2005, I had a seizure and I learned that my ovarian cancer had formed a small tumor in my brain. I had to have brain surgery to remove the tumor. My surgeon left a very small spot in my brain because he felt it was too risky to try to remove it and because, he felt that it could be destroyed by steriotactic radiation. I had the radiation and I will learn the results in a few weeks. Presently, I am undergoing chemotherapy. My oncologist/gynecologist at Mass General Hospital has put me on carboplatin and topotecean. He chose topotecean because it is the only chemo that crosses into the brain. There are no clinical trials for me. Does anyone know of anyone who has gone through what I am experiencing or do you have any suggestion? Thank you in advance. God Bless. Fran

May the Lord heal you and bless you with the strength to continue your journey. My Mom was stage 3b, diagnosed after surgery, with a presurgery CA-125 of 3844. I have no experience with additional problems you are going through. Please forgive me for replying, but I can only say that the doctors did not really want to discuss the chemo causing cancer. While researching I will keep you in my thoughts. I will pray for you and Our Lord is a merciful Lord, have faith and stay strong. We all have His strength if we ask and there is nothing that can not be acheived by His strength. I will email you if I find anything.

Your brain tumor is treatable in a clinical trial, with a very good track record. Check out the website at the Calgary medical school on "REOVIRUS". They inject this mild cold virus directly into the brain tumor & it is completely destroyed in 36 hours, without affecting the normal tissue. I have more if you are interested.
