All is Well ?

Hello,

My Husband is coming up on 1year after being diagnosed with bile duct cancer.  He had a whipple.

They think stage 1 a or b. They said it was non differential, still not sure what that means. He has had no radiation or chemo, his oncologist said we wait to see what we are targeting before taking these steps and he would be stonger for any treatment if need be. Now to me this is Great News!

His blood work is coming back great, he gets another Cat scan in June this is 2nd or 3rd after surgery.

So what I do not understand is what I am reading on this board? that bile duct cancer is the end? Are we not getting something?

Should we be more aggressive and demand chemo or radiation?

Thanks

I was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma stage 3, 2 1/2 years ago.I had surgery, radiation and chemo,  I just had Full MRI and CT scans three days ago and they showed no cancer.I am 2 1/2 years out and really had very little downtime suring my "journey" as people seem to like to call it. I still work, work-out and play probably harder than before they discovered my cancer.A lot of the stuff on the internet is doom and gloom and you're better off not reading it.I like to check out the compass web-site beacuse they really helped me out when I was first diagnosed with message boards etc.Rely on your doctor , relax and when you get your next clean scans you will begin to lose the constant cancer fear, which I can totally relate to, after I read nothing but doom and gloom and was told of my dire consequences from a few Drs. before I found the Oncologist I have.I also drink Essiac tea, it's natural and seems to help, my mother had stage 4 lung cancer four years ago and I put her on this tea, she's still alive and well and going on 89 yrs. old.  I don't sell the stuff so please don't think I am pushing the stuff, just google it and you'll find several vendors.  Good Luck   Tom

I have not been on this site for some time. I have been treated for
bile duct cancer and have survived since being given 3-6 months to live
at IU hospital in Indiana in 2000. YOU NEED TO GET A SECOND OPINION The only
way that I am still alive in MAYO in MN. You should contact Dr. Gregory
Gores. If the cancer has not spread to other areas of the body it may
be possible to remove the cancer and get a liver transplant. Dr Gores,
Dr Charles Rosen have saved my life.I made a one page website in their
honor. www.bileductcancer.org. email me at another email that I check
more often. umwa1189@yahoo.com if I can be of further assistance.
