After LEEP

I had the LEEP Procedure done 1 week ago today and I can't grasp these feelings and issues that I am having.  I've been having dizzy spells for the past 3 days, a bad metallic taste in my mouth, and I feel like I'm about to pass out.  I'm having bad emotional problems....I can't stop feeling sorry for myself and I'm crying off and on.  The bleeding hasn't stopped and I'm worried I am getting an infection.  I can't find enough information on the risks of this procedure and I can't get in touch with my doctor's office.  I'm really scared and want to get an answer before I take myself to the hospital.  Is it safe for them to keep the packing in and for me to be retaining the blood in myself?  I am displaying symptoms of TSS.

If you are having any unusual symptoms, please call your doctor's office and speak to the doctor on call. You could be having complications from the surgery and should be seen. It is definitely not normal to be feeling dizzy or to have a metalic taste in your mouth. If you are feeling worse or your doctor's clinic doesn't have an on-call doctor, go to ER. Even if it's something simple, it's best to address it now rather than wait.

However, I am curious. What do you mean by packing? Did your doctor use a vagipack? And why hasn't he or she taken it out, by now? That could very well be the cause of your symptoms.

Something to keep in mind is that LEEP has the highest risk of infection. Did your doctor tell you the symptoms to watch for? Pain, bad smelling discharge? If your doctor did not tell you what to watch for, please get a new doctor, as he or she was required to do this before you signed the paperwork.

But definitely insist on being seen by a doctor.

I have no idea what type of packing they put in me.  My boyfriend said they put some stuff in my and it is starting to come out of me now.  I had some that looked like a thick piece of gauze.  I wasn't really told anything except for nothing in the vagina for 1 month and come back in 4 to 6 weeks for my check up.  My boyfriend said he wasn't very happy with my doctor.  Should I be worried?  Guess I should make a trip to the ER.

I think you need to go to ER if you can't find a clinic open. I also think you need to get a new doctor. If your doctor put packing in you and did not explain why and left it there, it does not look good. Vagipak is put in when the bleeding won't stop, after part of your cervix had been cut off. I think you should also get a copy of the surgery report, along with the rest of your file. You may have to pay for it, but at this point, I think you need to know what happened. Keep a copy for yourself, and give a copy to the new doctor. I am very serious about this.

hi, i just had a Leep on the 30th of april. not, fun at all it's serious stuff!

i have had bleeding and pelvic pain, cannot be physically active moving around because i bleed more.rest its the only thing that helps me.

i'm wondering about the packing you got. i had some pain felt like i was going to get my period, which wasn't going to happen since the next day on may 1st, after my Leep i got my period. i am still not sure if having my period was safe. well, i ended up discharging some kind of brownish paper thing, i'm not sure but it also looked like a gause, something. so now that i read your post i might not be the only one. i though that maybe the iodine that they use to clean you before the Leep could be discharging, maybe. i also have been a bit weak, and after the local anesthesia i haven't been able to do #2 that well.

just wanted to write to let you know you are not alone, any questions don't hesitate.

i'm waiting for my Leep results next week.

take care
