Dear All,

My Father is a 60 and an HCC patient a multiple tumors, I didn’t had any hopes as Dr. didn’t even recommended TACE for him, i cannot explain how tough time it was for me... as there was no treatment available and I cant do anything for my father, but last day i heard from some of you people about Nexavar i rushed to the local Bayer sales team but again all my hopes fell down when I came to know its costs around 2000$ for two weeks.....

Now again i am on the same position, please recommend me any other affordable medicine or way as i am entitled from my company for his medical but its even beyond that limit.

He is loosing weight every single day…. he gets tired very quickly last night was unable sleep, i cant see him like this.... need your advises ....

 Regards,

Ali

He may be eligible for a trial that would pay for the cost of study medications. Search "liver cancer sorafenib" in www.clinicaltrials.gov

Hi Ali,

You can get financial help through the Nexava REACH program.  My husband was diagnosed with Hep C and HCC last September and the Oncologist prescribed Nexavar, and I was told it would be very expensive.  But the REACH program really helped us out and it ended up costing us only $124.00 per month.  Just GOOGLE Nexavar, go to their site and you'll see the REACH program.  They were very very helpful in getting the cost down.

Also, try clinical trials through your local cancer center or get referrals from your Oncologist.

Please let me know if I can help further.

 Jane

Dear Ali,

My husband and I have been going to Mayo clinic in Rochester, MN.

They placed him on Nexavar and it is shrinking the tumors.  However, while we were there, they were talking about a new treatment that will begin in tests soon.  A very simple procedure, by injecting directly into the tumors a "pox" virus that could be more effective than the nexavar, with less side effects.  But, everyone around the person injected would have to be vaccinated or the patient quarantined.  But it still beats all the expense.  Maybe you could call Mayo, and get your father into the trial program, and they are a Charity after all.......Never hurts to try, try, try.

They also, have a Ronald McDonalds house for patients who need to stay any great length of time.

With God's help, you will find a way!

Good luck!
