On my 3rd reoccurance UPDATE!!

I arived at MD Anderson yesterday and we were very impressed from the beginning.  We met with a RN then a Nurse practitioner and then the Dr. After going over our records and looking at my scans they took us into a confrence room and talked about the treatment they suggested.  They suggested that I go back on Carbo & Taxol with some medicine 24 hours b4 my treatments to make me handle the Carbo because of my reaction to it 3 years ago.  They gave me alot of hope.  They also suggested trials I could check out at their location, but that is always a posibility but for now we have already talked to our dr at home and they are willing to try the Carbo and Taxol again.  The MD Anderson Dr did mention Avastin and Gemser as being drugs to try.  We are very happy with our trip to Houston and we feel that we did receive our Professional 2nd opinion, not far off of our 1st Professional opinoin BUT ALOT OF PEACE OF MIND!

I am on my second reoccurence and have been put on Doxil.  I started with carb/taxol and I was in remission for 6 months.  What was the second drug they gave you on your 2nd reoccurence?  I'm doing good so far on the Doxil with little side reffects.  I go for a cat scan on Tuesday (21st) to see if anything has changed.  I have two cells floating and a small quarter size tumor up into the vagina.  How have you been feeling?  How long have you been battling this disease?  My prayers are with you and I hope the third time is a charm.  I sometimes look ahead and get very anxious so I try to stay in the "now" part of it.  But it's very scary.  Good luck to you.  I wonder why they are going back to carb/taxol for you if it didn't work the first time?  My tumor was mucinous which they say is rare and resistent to a lot of chemos.  I just hope they find the one that works and works for good.  Michele

On my second reoccurence They started me on Carbo/Taxol but on my 2nd treatment I became allergic to the Carbo so we just finished out the last 4 treatments with Taxol.  At that time I was in remission for 1 1/2 years.  Then when I started my 3rd round of treatments they started my on topatecian and sorafinib (not sure the spelling is right.  Now after seeing them at MDA they suggest Carbo and Taxol again with some medicine to help me tollerate the Carbo.  Sounds good to me because I think that apperantly did work well with me.  Stay possitive is your best medicine
