Dear railwayman. Thank you for writing me back. we see the dr on may 1 and we are going to ask about the pill. we were told that the only drug that would work for renel cell cancer was torisel but my husband is now getting all the severe side effects. do you take that medicine (pill)?  thanks again tamarakay

Hi - no, there is definitely Sutent, Nexavar, sometimes Avastin, and now the new Evarolimus (only just licened in the USA I believe, and sold under a different name I've forgotten what).

I know all the first three drugs, and Torisel, are approved for Europe, but perhaps that is different in other parts of the world? Not sure if Evaralimus is fully approved for Europe yet.

Sutent, Nexavar and Evarolimus are definitely pills you take at home. Not sure about Avastin.

All the best, Julie.

my father has Sarcomitiod RCC and pretty much the only drug for that type of RCC is Torisel.  does your husband have clear cell?  because then he could use any of the drugs listed in the other persons post.  But what i have seen is that sutent and torisel are the drugs that most people have success with.  but i have also heard that torisel has less side effects then sutent.
