I found a lot of information on wallnuts and prostrate cancer these are just two of the links I found that states  that Melatonin found in wallnuts is a powerful anti-oxidant and is capable of stopping diseases like cancer, heart disease and many diseases associated with aging. just a few in the parm of your hand a day is all you need cheers Ray

Research done at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio has shown that walnuts contain plenty of melatonin. Melatonin is a powerful anti-oxidant and is capable of stopping diseases like cancer, heart disease and many diseases associated with aging.

The ingredients in walnuts may reduce incidence of cancer, degenerative nerve diseases of aging including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinsonism and may reduce severity of cardiovascular diseases as per Russel J. Reiter, PhD., who is a professor of neuroendocrinology at University of Texas Health Science Center. These findings were published in the recent issue of the "International Journal of Applied and Basic Nutritional Science."

When walnuts are consumed, it increases blood levels of melatonin by three fold as per the research findings. Studies have shown that walnuts reduce the risk of heart disease due to the presence of omega-3-fatty acids and antioxidants. Meltonin and omega-3-fatty acids can lead to starving of the cancer cells thus preventing the growth of cancer clone. This combination of melatonin and omega-3-fatty acids that is present in walnut may be better suited for prevention of cancer compared to melatonin taken in a tablet form, as per Reiter.
Thirty-one patients with advanced solid tumors who either failed to respond to chemotherapy and radiation or who showed insignificant responses were given melatonin at 10mg/day orally for 3 months. After the study period, none of the patients developed adverse reactions to melatonin or had discontinued treatment. Thirty-nine percent demonstrated disease stabilization with no further growth of either the primary tumor or that of secondary tumors. The patients experienced improvement in their general well-being and showed decreased levels of IL-6.
