My mom who is 67 was dx in 11/08 with RCC. She had a complete nephrectomy, At the time of dx there were some spots in her lungs. She has just finished two rounds of Sutent and did well. Her lung spots have decreased significantly but, now her adrenal glands (both) show up hot on her pet scan. Please help. I am devastated and feel like there is no hope. Can anyone pass some along? She has an appt. Monday to discuss other treatments.

hi sorry to hear about you mum I know  there is hope and  Im sorry you feel devastated  RCC is the most common type of kidney cancer. RCC begins small and grows larger over time, heart and kidney can go together if one diseased better keep and eye on the other because a pet scan showed you mum has cancer in her lung. and both her adrenal glands  I think the first thing can you have a look at the link to these  two sites and then you should be able to take it from there

Hi, I'm sorry to hear things looked up, and then seemed to have taken a dip again - it's that damn cancer rollercoaster at work!!

I can't give you any information myself (my husband's only affected adrenal came out with his nephrectomy), but I'm sure others here may well have had a similar experience to this, plus  I can definitely recommend another email loop called kidney-onc which you can join on http://cancerguide.org/kofaq/  Many people here are there too, but it has the largest body of information,experience and advice that I know of for RCC.

I 'm 61 and have had similar experiences as your mother. My left kidney was removed in Oct. 2008 and with it the adreanal gland. I also had a tumor on my right lung at 3.1 cm. On my fifth session of sutent and the tumor on the lung is 1.0 cm. I know what you are going thru because I see what my wife has to deal with. Your mother is fortunate to have you as a caregiver  and friend. Don't give up hope,
