Swollen stomach

Friend with stage 4 liver cancer was admitted last week with a swollen stomach.  3 tumors have grown apparently the triple chemo did not work.  Now there are cells on the lining of the bladder.  Chemo is being administered once a week and the stomach has been drained 3 times during the last 5 days.  What does all this really mean?

My Dad also suffered from the swollen stomach.  He was giver Laxatives every three hours to release the excess fluid.  It is horrible.  In my dad's case his liver was filing at the bilirubins were extremely high.   It can mean his organs are beginning to fail.  Good luck.
