If you are worried about radical prostatectomy, then I would suggest that you look at other options. In my case I didn't like the possible side effects of RP so I choose HIFU which has very few to no side effects. I have read stories on the www.yananow.net site and others of men who have take proton beam treatment and cyberknife treatment and they stated that they do not have any side effects. There are a lot of other options besides PR and standard radiation therapy that are far better with regards to limiting and/or eliminating the side effects, specifically erectile dysfunction and incontinence. Check them out rather then just going with RP.

According to Sardino, the leading surgeon at Slone Kettering, 60% of all RPs are successful, meaning cure, no complications, and no permanent side affects. The choice of surgeon is the most critical factor in determining outcome.

Outcomes at centers that don't specialize in PC treatments are worse than at major cancer centers.

A lot depends on your initial staging. Gleason 6 and low PSA have excellent outcomes, as Gleason and PSA increase the cure rates diminish.

Hi johnt. Thanks for the reply; I don’t know what I’m going to do yet. What happen is a few  month ago my high dose vitamin C and zinc stop working, and my psa started to go up, I also found my urine retention was getting worst. I was finding it all most impossible to go to the toilet. So I was getting desperate. I seen my doctor, he talk to me, and  he said you haven’t got bone Mets any more and all the pet scans showed your clear of cancer any were else in your body, so you haven’t got advance prostrate cancer any more but you still have prostrate cancer. time to get it out  so he sent me to see a urologist who I ask to do the RP. He didn’t believe what he was reading. Or what I told him, so he sent me for more test. What he said was, you should be getting worst, not better, then worst. and bone met dont just clear up he wanted me to have a bone biopie I refused. as This just doesn’t happen there must be something else going on here. Now  about  the same tome I seen the urologist.  I seen other naturopath who give me some good information she remined mr of a book my wife bought on the foods that fight cancer so armed with this information I  went on the alternative treatment of 160mg of red clover tablets 80mg at night 80mg in the morning and the budwig diet for prostrate cancer, of grinding up three table spoons of flack seeds, and 15 almond pits every morning, and mixing  it with cottage cheese and soy milk, that has isoflavones in it. So far over the last few months  all these test shown that my  psa dropping. An ultra sound on my prostrate showed it has shrank from 65cm  down to  35 cm normal 25cm and my urine retention almost gone. I just don’t know what to do you see I had the same thing happen when I was on the high dose vitamin C but not as good as this  My other naturopath Debby put me on to the high dose vitamin C and it stoped working. I frighten that this treatment will stop, and I have nothing to fall back on to. I’m due to have the RP on the 27th May but dont know to cancell it or not. I know it in God hands but Ive muck him up be for by changing my mind  I wish I knew what to do all the best Ray

tough choice.  I had robotic surgery 5 weeks ago and now I'm suffering through incontinence.  I have to change pads a few times a day.  I was using an herbal program for a few short weeks before my surgery and my PSA was going down.  I think I could have beat it with herbs but was pressured to have the surgery.  If I had it over i would have tried to give the herbal treatment more time but you have to make that choice and live with the incontinence for several months and even slower sexual recovery.

I was getting help from Don Yance

 http://www.centrehealing.com/

Don gave a 3 hour lecture on prostate cancer and using herbs to cure it.  If you want a copy of the powerpoint presentation you can email me at

Thank for the reply I tryed to get the HIFU where I live in Aaustraia. I found  it not covered by any of the medical insurance companys, here and cost $20,000.00, to have it done. I dont have the $20,000.00, so no HIFU for me . cheers Ray

Hi bill thanks for the post, I know what a tough choice it been.  sorry for what you going through and sorry you email address was removed. If you do a private post to me you can post your email adress there  I sure would  like to see that PowerPoint presentation.

I tried to get the robotic surgery back in 2007 they would not do it. I think I’ve just about made my mind up to not to go ahead with the RP. CC member johnt posted there only a 60% cure rate I’ve read the same thing   it only has a 60% chance of working and that’s only if your Gleason score was 6 and your psa was 6. My Gleason score in 2007 was 4+4=8 but my last psa was 10.2 the one three months before was a PSA of  13.   I seem to be doing so well on the 160 mg of red clover tablets and the ground up flack seeds apricot pits zinc selenium and the pineapple enzyme I just going to stay on it  I read on the cancer  tutor site that you have a better chance with alterative treatments

 http://www.cancertutor.com/Other/Prostate_Cancer.html

I had a PSA test to day next week my doctor appointment. So far it cost me a few hundred dollars for all the tests he wanted me to have done. Just because he would not believe me. Or the reports my GP give him but because my wife a RN (nurse) I know I past every one. As you said I don’t want to live with the incontinence for several months and even slower sexual recovery. If it was working I was pressured to have the surgery to by the doctor to back in 2007 it cost me $3000.00 to fly across Sydney and Brisbane in  Australia to be told I had five years to live. In 2007  I went on high dose vitamin C it works, and my psa stayed the same until just  a few month ago it stoped working, and until now. I didn’t know why, it wasn’t working. At the time I had acid reflux, so I started taken acid reflux medication. You know  I just found out  that the acid reflux medication can reduce the level of vitamin C plasma in some people so  this is why my vitamin C stop working and my psa went up three points do you know about the budwig anti-cancer diet  in case you need it later put these two sites in fovorites list

This is how to make it

Hi johnt I’ve read our bodies produce cancer cells from the day we are conceived to the day we die. Our body handles these small amounts of cancer cell quit well. It only when our bodies produce to many cancer cells that our cancer defences get over whelmed and we get cancer termors. I believe a so called cancer cure, relies in the balancing act of getting our bodies to produce less cancer cells and boosting our cancer defenders up, to wipe out more cancer cell. There doing this now with cancer patients using  cancer immunology do you think cheers Ray

think of watchful waiting and find out what financial interest the MD has is the type of treatment recommends. If using Robot make sure that they have done lots of these procedures since there is large learning curve. All procedures have side effects.
