Hello everyone,  My wife who was dx in Nov 18 of 2008 with stage iv mrcc to lungs and brian.  Now after six months which is what doctor gave her.  Cancer has regrown and they have started Torisel.  Doctor have states if this does not work I only have a few months with the love of my life.  I hope with the little I have left that this will prolong her life another year or more.  I am also going to be taking her to see her family in California before it is to late.  They want to take her to the Hoxsey clinic in Tijuana Mx which we will do.  Supposely alternative medicine so I can't see this hurting her with the poison they are putting in her.  Has any one heard or tried Torisel and heard about the Hoxsey clinic any feed back will be appreciated.  Stay positive and strong!

My husband was diagnosed in July 2005 with RCC and had a left nephrectomy in August 2005.  The tumor was only in the kidney, no signs of mets at his 3 month check.  The 6 month check showed mets to lungs and bone.  He started on Nexavar in March 2006 and had good results for 22 months.  The PET/CT scan showed more mets so was started on Torisel.  He had 4 months of this and the scan showed more places, so he started on Sutent in August 2008.  He took 16 pills and went to the hospital for severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting on August 29th.  This CT scan showed the cancer everywhere, so he opted for no more treatment.  I took him home on September 3rd and he died peacefully on September 11th.  He fought a good fight for 3 years, so I feel we were fortunate to have him that long.  I pray that your wife will have good results from the Torisel.  Everyone is different, what works for some doesn't for others.  I will be praying for your wife and for you.  Stay positive!!  Do what you need to do to keep her that way, too.  If she is in pain, control it.  The quality of life is what counts.  God bless you both.

Torisel saved my husband's life.  He was diagnosed with stage IV RCC on June 27, 2008 - almost a year ago.  His cancer at that time was in the left kidney (a softball-sized mass), left adrenal gland, and a small tumor in the right adrenal gland.  The cancer was also metastasized to both lungs (he had more than 30 different tumors in the lungs).  The doctor started Dave on Torisel immediately.  We were told that if the Torisel doesn't work Dave probably only had a few months to live.  The Torisel did work well for 8 months and actually shrunk all the tumors.  He did have to switch to Sutent a month ago as the lung tumors have started growing again and also he had a small brain metastasis.  We are so thankful that the Torisel worked for him and gave him 8 months of pretty good quality life despite some pretty horrible side effects (mouth sores).

Dave is on Sutent now, and we are hoping it will work for him.  He's only been taking it for a month.  He has more scans in a month to see if the Sutent is working or not.  All we can do now is try to keep a positive attitude and pray a lot.  If not for the Torisel, though, Dave wouldn't be alive right now.  I wish your wife the best.

Nancy
