Hi Mike

I'm not here to rant but I am here for you - as will be many others as you go through treatment.  This site is a God send for anyone going through cancer treatment.  If you have any questions or just want to get it out - we have been where you are and know what you are going through.  I know it is overwhelming when first learning that you have cancer.  That happens to other people - not to me!  At least, that is what I thought unitl the day I was told I probably had squamous cell carcinoma of the left tonsil.  Then it was confirmed 4 days later.  Many friends and co-workers treated me as if I had leprosy or been handed a death sentence.  They didn't know the right words to express - but then again what are the right words?  I lost 20 lbs in two weeks after starting treatment and was so weak they had to meet me at the hospital door with a wheel chair.  Then I received a letter two weeks into chemo and radiation that my job would not be there when I completed treatment.  I was very fortunate that I do have a deep faith in God as do many of my friends.  I had many praying for me as I made the journey through chemo and radiation.  Please keep us updated on how you are doing.

I am so sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis.  My husband was a Vietnam vet and was diagnosed with RCC in July 2005.  His spread to the bone and lungs six months after having his left kidney removed.   He had good luck with Nexavar and then the cancer began to spread.  He switched to Torisel (4 months) and the cancer had spread more.  He took sixteen pills of Sutent and the lat CT scan showed the cancer had spread everywhere.  He died September 11, 2008.  He was fortunate that he didn't have any mouth sores, but he really complained of everything tasting the same and he had numbness of his feet and left hip (where the cancer was).  The pain in his feet was terrible.  He took pills for the numbness, but that didn't help much.  We, too, have a strong faith in God and have really special friends.  I think most friends don't know what to say, so they don't say anything.  Call some of them and let them know that you still exist and would like to see them or visit with them (if you're up to it).  I really think a good, positive, outlook is the best treatment.  Keep your spirits up, after all, you're still here to fight this dreaded disease.  Like the person who wrote before me said, we are all here to help you.  So-o-o-, if you need to vent or lash out at someone, we're here for you.  Have at it!!!

Take care, you're in my prayers.
