So my dad was diagnosed with Gall bladder cancer in January and was told it had spread a little to his Liver. He was given Gemcitabine chemetherapy treatment and was told there'd be no surgery as the cancer was between veins- Tests have been done on a weekly basis and found that his blood work has been good consistently and his immune system and organs were functioning well-The docs decided to do a scan and found the chemo hasn't made a difference and they even noticed a few spots on his lungs. the first time they did the scan, they only concentrated on his Gall bladder, so it has been difficult to tell whether the lung was the origin and also if treatment has been working. I didn't want my dad to go through another bout of chemo if its gonna mess him up and not do a thing, but the doctors insisted he carry on the full course of the treatment- Do any of you here understand what's happening?

I have had gallbladder cancer since Dec. 2002. The cancer did metastasis to the liver. I have been on and off Chemo since then currently the disease is stable. When I go off the Chemo my CA-19-9 rise then after a rest from the Chemo I go back on and my CA19-9 drops. My current #'s have gone from a high of 32,000. down to 7000. There is hope. Bill

Hi Bill,

my mum was just recently diagnosed with GBC. Doctor did a surgery to remove the gallbladder and we were told that she needs chemo as they thought her stage is 2B or 3. She is currently on chemo since June 09 however the cancer marker kept going up. The doctor couldnt explain why her CA19-9 keeps increasing. They found in her pet and ct scan that there might still be left over cancer/tumour in the sugery area which has been removed however cannot confirm that a 100%.

Just like to know what stage was your GBC when you first found out in 2002 and since then, what kind of treatment you had. What kind of diet are you on at the moment because I was told GBC is very agressive therefore we are tryling to do all the right thing (from treatment to diet). Any information and advise from you would be much appreciated.

Also do you take any Eastern/Chinese medicine?
