High Calcium levels in RCC???

This is my first post..i just joined.  My husband (47) was dx on Dec 18, 2008 with Stage 4 RCC with mets to both lungs & liver.  Started sutent & after only 2 rounds ct scan showed progression in the liver. on march 26 they found a blood clot outside the kidney & he takes blood thinners for it.  since april 3 he has been in the hospital twice with high calcium levels.  his calcium was so high he was very confused & would not eat.  they finally got it down right below 10 & he is much better.  he started torisel on april 1st & with all of this going on he is behind on his treatments.  he starts treatment back on may 5th & i am praying he does not have this calcium problem again so he can be treated.  has anyone else had a calcium level problem or know what all of this means? the dr is not saying a whole lot just that the bone scan shows something is going on & he can't be 100% sure the cancer has spread to his bone?

Blood calcium

Kidney cancer can lead to a high calcium level by releasing hormone-like proteins.

Here is a link that might help explain.
