7 yrs. 5 months of chemo...I'm tired

I was diagnosed with fallopian tube cancer stage 3C in Dec. of  '01.  I have never been in remission although 3 1/2 years ago I was off chemo for 6 months when they somehow misread a CT scan.  I now go to CTCA and have been there for 3 years.  Until my scan last Tuesday I have shown no growth in any of my tumors since going there.  I have been on many different chemos and they never felt surgery was necessary since they were keeping it stable.  I did have 3 surgeries in the 1st four years of my cancer.  Never at CTCA.  Well, this past scan showed growth in every tumor in my pelvic area. That was in just 11 weeks.  I'm now scheduled for HIPEC surgery on the 18th of this month.  Has anyone ever had this surgery?  It is where they use a heated chemotherapy and circulate it through your abdomen.  It is supposed to be wonderful but they won't promise me that they can do it because of a few slightly enlarged lymph nodes that are behind my mesentery.  They said if they are malignent they can't use the chemo in my abdomen because it won't reach those lymph nodes and the chemo is so powerful that they wouldn't be able to give me regular chemo for many months which would make it impossible to treatment for the malignent lymph nodes.

I know there isn't much anyone can tell me at this point but I just need to let off a little steam.  I have pretty much received chemo every 3 weeks for over 7 years.  I'm tired, half my life I don't have hair, I can never plan a vacation or even be sure what I'll be up to doing from one week to another.

I am curious if anyone knows anything about the HIPEC surgery.

Thanks for whatever advice or encourgement anyone can give me.  I'm just a bit down and don't know where to turn.

 My best to all,

Judy

Judy, I have no idea about the surgery, but I just wanted to tell you that you are my hero!! 7.5 years of chemo and you say you are just "a little tired", wow!!!!!! I would be completely beside myself. Your strength is incredible, along with your desire to be alive (with and without hair). No need to justify yourself about wanting to vent. I'm sure so many of us would want to scream at this point. Hang in there, Judy, the same way you have done it for all these years. I hope others are able to answer your questions about the surgery. As for me, I cannot offer information, but I'm praying for you so that you remain as strong and faithful as you have been all this time. You are an amazing person, and an inspiration for so many of us.

Judy, go to hipectreatment.com. It's a website about HIPEC treatment. It has good information. I hope it's helpful.

Hi Judy,

You give us all hope.  I know how discouraging it is to be on consant chemo, but I'm hoping I can last 7 years with or without chemo.  I have been on chemo 10 month (this my second time) and I'm getting really tired of it.  I keep hoping, but doubt that I can take a break.

Just know that we are with you and I hope that this new chemo will work for you.  You are a tru Teal Warrier.

Keep the faith,

Gayle

Judy,

you are my hero too.. 7years and 5 months is a long time to be on treatment.  I'm going on 2 1/2 years of nonstop chemo....  I  have grandchildren, and hope to be here to watch them grow up....

and you have every right to vent...  I can't help with info about the procedure you mentioned, but I hope you can have it, and you get a break....  they say go on with your life, but if they don't have cancer, they really have no idea.  Our lives revolve around treatments, blood work, hair and no hair and fatigue...  and trying to make plans for the future is very difficult to say the least

I wish you the best of luck...  please stay strong

  vicki
