my 9 yr. old niece has a form of sarcoma in her thigh and lungs. the main tumor started in her thigh. chemo is not working. they are going to do surgery to remove the cancer from her leg but there are too many in her lungs so they are switching her from injections of chemo to pills and going to start radiation. dr's said prognosis is very poor. any insight about this?

This is basically the same situation my father is in. Chemo has not worked for him. I'm not sure if they will want to do radiation on him, or if he will want radiation done. I am now looking into alternatives for him. Any alternatives anyone knows of or has any experience with?

Only 1% of all cancers are sarcoma's and they are very agressive and fast moving.

I am sorry to say that in all my research I have not heard of any miracles in this type of a situation.

My suggests are to love on her, make her comfortable and take care of each other. Have you contacted "Make a wish foundation"? I think something special for her and the entire family is in order soon.

I will keep her in my prayers,

Nurse LeAnne

nurse leanne,

my neice has had the cancer removed from her leg and they had to shave off some of her hip too, when they were in there they found a little one (they originally thought was a blood clot) in her main artery. after surgery, she didn't want to wake up and when she would wake she would halucinate (not sure on the spelling) which led to them finding cancer in her brain, so they put her into a coma until they removed it. dr's said easy surgery because it was pushing right against the bone. they did not think she was going to make it but she did. my sister was going to change the date of going to disney with make a wish but dr's want her to go on the 9th so she gets her wish because they still don't think she will make it. have not started radiation because of her surgeries. have to wait until she heals. we have high hopes for her. she is strong and surprises her dr's all the time. thank you for your input.
