I'm having some concerns over some generic Efudex (Fluorouracil) I bought from a Canadian pharmacy online. The pharmacy is licensed, of course (just in case you were wondering.
The first time I opened the tube and squeezed some out, it was very liquid-y, but you could still see the white cream, sort of looked clumpy and curdled (like cottage cheese, only much smaller curds). That's the only way I can really describe it. It didn't look smooth like diaper rash cream or tooth paste. Anyway, in the beginning it was very liquidy, and when you applied it, felt like a serum more so than a cream, because there was so much liquid. Then, as I got towards the end of the tube, the cream got dryer, almost impossible to spread. Seems that all of the moisture or whatever you want to call it was at the one end of the tube.
I'm really worried that because it didn't seem to be consistent in texture the portion with the majority of the liquid might have been too strong, and the part that was extremely dry might be a waste of time. The expiration date is 10/2010 so as long a this is accurate, I guess I'm ok there.
I'm regretting buying generic, and when you read the box it states it was manufactured in India. What most of the Canadian online pharmacies don't tell you is that they get their products mostly from countries overseas. They will tell you if you ask, and you will see once you read the packaging where it is from.
Has anyone else had this experience with their tube of Efudex? My sister applied Efudex a couple of years ago and doesn't remember it like this at all.
