My 11 yr old lab mix was diagnosed with cancer last year with a poor prognosis. She almost died after the first dose of carboplatin chemo so when she made a recovery, I was over the moon. It has been a year since then, and she's made it longer than the vets thought. Last week she stopped eating but she's been taking water. The vet said she was hypercalcemic (common with cancer) and she could hydrate her with IVs and give her prednisone but I decided not to do that. She has some energy when she's outside but is mostly sleeping now. She doesn't seem like she's in pain (only her hind legs seem shaky and weak) and seems pretty peaceful. Should I have done the steroid thing? Now I'm second guessing my decision? Can I do anything else to make her more comfortable? I know I know her better than anyone but I just need to talk to someone who's been through it...Gabby
