After LEEP.....how long

I had a LEEP on Feb 27th.......it seemed to go well......I went back for my followup right after & the doc said I was healing fine & the annoying discharge (brownish sometimes, pinkish/red others)  would last 3-4 weeks.............I was excited when it stopped it took 5 weeks later BUT only for 2 days then the spotting started again for 2 more weeks.....stopped for 5 days & hasn't stopped since.  I called my doc & she said it was part of the healing process because it wasn't excessive. (4-5 mini pads a day) I HATE wearing pads every day..............some days (hardly ever) when there is almost nothing I am rubbed so raw from pads 24/7 for almost 3 months now..........I go back the end of June for another biopsy & endocervical curettage because my results from my LEEP came back CIN III (it was mild to moderate just 4-5weeks before when I had my PAP) & it spread up into my canal.  My doc suggested another LEEP in July to try & remove more........ I will go totally nuts if I have to wear pads for another 3-4 months.  I don't know what to do

I would suggest getting a second opinion.. possibly from a GYN Oncologist.  This area is their speciality.

Fire your doctor and get a new one, immediately! It is not normal to have discharge for three months. I had nonstop discharge for three months, too, and as it turned out, the doctor badly botched the LEEP but didn't bother to tell me.

In addition, get copies of all your lab reports so that you know exactly what has been happening, all along. Check to see if there was dysplasia in the endocervical canal and the endocervical glands. That will tell you if your doctor even chose the correct surgical option.

Also get a copy of the doctor's notes from the surgery. This way, you'll know what happened.

But definitely get a new doctor, and get a referral to a GYN/ONC, today. This is not to scare you, but you'll be getting an expert opinion about all of this, which could put your mind at ease, or get you actively involved in what is best for you. Whatever you do, please make sure your decision is informed.

I agree with herenow.  You need a gynecological oncologist who will know what s/he is doing.  I've had enough experience with the medical community to have come to the conclusion that many general practitioners (including gynecologists) don't know what they are doing.  They mean well, but they have no common sense, especially the younger ones.  They just aren't taught how to think anymore.

This past week I had to go to three different doctors (two internists and finally a rheumotologist) to get the diagnosis of "water on the knee".....I had diagnosed myself with that two weeks ago when I started limping and my brother, who is a doctor but lives 500 miles away, correctly diagnosed me on the phone!  Since I had cervical cancer two years ago, the internists got crazed and sent me for all sorts of tests, including a chest xray(!).  The xray technician was laughing when she asked me why we were xraying my chest when it was my knee that was hurting.  No wonder health care is so expensive.  Finally the rheumologist listened to me, checked out my knee, gave me his diagnosis and told me to come back in two weeks.  He said the knee issues will probably resolve themselves without any treatment.  Common sense.

If you are bleeding for so long, it is not normal.  You know that, I know that, most women know that, yet you are told not to listen to your gut feelings.  I think we should ALL be listening to our gut instincts first.  Find a good gyn/onc who respects you.  Good luck.

Thank you all for your advice............I have called my GYN to get copies of all my records.  I will be starting a search for a new doc.  I deal with  migraines & the added stress from this is not helping.
