I understand that the experts in Pancreatic surgery are located at the John Hopkins Center in Balitmore, Md. Our insurance carrier will not cover services at this hospital. How can I convince them that for this type of surgery, we need the best and that means John Hopkins. We are located in the Philadelphis area.
Thank you.

My mom had a whipple done in 1996, with Dr. Yeo, and she is still doing well! Dr. Yeo was previously at Johns Hopkins, but he movee to Philly. He is currently at a hospital/school at Thomas Jefferson University.

Dr. Yeo was my husband's surgeon at Johns Hopkins right before he moved to Thomas Jefferson in Philadelphia in October.
We heard many good things about him from everyone involved in my husband's care. My husband still has a long road ahead but is convinced beyond a doubt that he wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for Dr. Yeo's involvement.

Dear Jim...I just saw your message, and I hope its not too late, but why don't you go to the University of Penn? It is a great teaching university hospital. I had my surgery done there for pancreatic cancer by Dr. Rosato, Chief Surgeon of Gastroenterology. They removed 40% of my pancreas, my entire spleen, a slice of my kidney, and five lymph nodes. The cancer spread top the first lymph node, but the others were clear. I am now a five year survivor of pancreactic cancer...very rare!!! Let me know what has happened and if the surgery was already done? Best Regards, Russ
