Are surgery and Alernative contradictory for colon cancer?

My mom is too scared of quimio, but would like to do the surgery. She has three polyps and one ulcer with cancer. They don't tell you a stage in Venezuela where she lives, but by reading the report I think it is not that serious. The polyps are big enough that would cause vomiting if she eats big portions (which has not happened in two weeks) The ulcer doesn't bother her at all as long as she stays clear of tomatoes and lemon/lime. She is not taking any medications. She is 67. Will surgery reduce alternative treatment effectiveness or make it useless? I am still researching alternative treatments for her, her doctor wants to perform surgery in 4 weeks. I am trying to put the monies together for that, but I am trying to determine if that money would be better used in alternative treatment. Any advise? thank you! and God Bless. Thanks!
