Hi CDW2009,

I have only now come across your message asking about my Dad and treatment in the Uk.  Sadly and unexpectedly my Dad died in december.  He only had 6 rounds of ECX and was then left to come back when symptoms reoccurred.  In less than 6 weeks he was feeling bad, and requested a scan.  Before his result we had to get him to hospital as he could not get up etc.  In hospital we were told it had gone to the liver,  and a plan was to get him home asap to be with us.  He died one week after being admitted to hospital, and we did not get him home.

We do not have any options for treatment in the UK like the options offered in USA.  I feel he could have been helped more and that we could have been given more info.

We were all so shocked at how quickly he went down, and were sure we would get him home.  It was not to be, and now we are heartbroken.

I hope your mum is doing OK.  And I am sorry for the delay in replying to your post, but my head is still all over the place.

You are in my thoughts.

Elsie.

Elsie-

I am so sorry for your loss.  It is devasting I know.  My sister went into the hospital just to have fluid drained from her abdomen and her lungs and then to get blood transfusions to boost her counts.  She was to come home but then took a turn for the worst unexpectedly and fluid begain accummulating in her body.  Her kidneys started shutting down and there was nothing we could do.  We had to watch her pass away over 3 days. It was heartbreaking and I am still in shock feeling as if this isn't real.    I am sure you can relate.  We expected her to be back home with us.

I hope that you can find comfort in your fond memories.  They tell me that the pain will become bearable as time goes on....

Tracy
