Hey out there I just discovered this website, so I wanted to see if anyone out there was going through some of the same things I was.I am a 49 year woman who  6 weeks ago I had my left kidney, eurater and part of my bladder removed all cancerous. It all happened so fast. I had pain in my back and stomache, went to the doctors they thought I had kidney stones, refered to urologists and after cystoscopy then biopsy I had surgery April 17th, the tumor was 9 centimeters long inside the eurater. This was and still is very scary to me and I am still trying to deal with hearing the word cancer. My husband and myself turned to God and prayers and that is how we got through it. I truly believe God got me through this and you need to be positive. Oh I am still scared to death because I have to be on a 5 year plan with ct scans every couple of months and that anxiety of every time I go not knowing whether it has come back. The doctor said that it was from smoking, and he said that even though I quit smoking I am still at risk. I saw other people saying that they don't have feeling around incisions, I have a 9 inch incision on my side and a six inch one on abdomem and sometimes it tingles but I have lost alot of feeling in my left thigh and told the doctor about it and he said that alot of tendons and nerves were cut during the surgery and sometimes it happens. It does take alot out of you but I look at it  this way I am lucky to be here.Keep positive.

Sounds like you've really been through a lot lately.  You are so right...the prayer definitely is a factor in everything.  I truly believe that if not for prayer my husband wouldn't be here today.  He was diagnosed stage IV RCC with mets to lung and brain 1 year ago.  Doctor didn't think he'd live 4 months, but here he is a year later still going strong.  It is so scary, though.  We just take one day at a time and pray and try to stay positive.  Set small goals and achieve them one by one.  Our first goal when Dave was diagnosed in June 2008 was to have a nice 4th of July and shoot some fireworks.  That goal was achieved, and then we set a goal of celebrating my birthday in October....then it was Thanksgiving and Christmas....then the goal was to make it to 2009 and "ring in" another new year.  All these small goals really help give him something to look forward to.  Keep praying, and I'll be praying for you, too!

Nancy
