RE: What can be done to hide the chest port?

She should wear it proudly, but mine was barely visible, just a round bump under my skin about an inch across. Maybe she could pin a small flower or decorative pin to her clothes just over top of the bump. It really is the way to go to give chemo. I watched many people struggle with the intravenous and others trying to find a vein after many treatments.Best of luck to you and your wife. Remember attitude is half if not more of the battle.

RE: What can be done to hide the chest port?

Everyone is different in regards to how their port actually looks...but if it's any consolation, even when I show people where mine is, if not for the still healing scar, people can't see it and can't tell. If i wore snug fitting clothing, nobody would be able to see it still, my surgeon did a really good job. So I hope it's the same for your wife, that the port is barely visible and it's not a big issue for her. Best of luck to her...and as a side note, I am really glad I have a port as opposed to having my veins poked and prodded multiple times every time I need an IV started. It's nice not to have to stress about it or deal with the pain of multiple sticks...I just get it started into the port and then I don't need to worry about it.

I don't really know of any way to cover up the port. For about the first 8 months or so, my port was not really visible. However, after all the treatments and weight loss, it really stands out now. But I don't worry about it. I have more than enough stress right now. Swimsuit tops with straps can be annoying and painful for me. Best wishes for your wife during this difficult time. I will be thinking of her.Sincerely,Pam

My beautiful wife is having a chest port inserted week for her chemo and I wanted to know if any of you had some tips on clothing to hide this port. She is a yoga teacher and would like to continue to practice but is concerned about the port being very visible under her yoga clothes which are tight fitting and revealing. Any helpful tips on this would be most appreciated.
