It has been 6 months since my last chemo therapy session (Cytoxin and Taxotere), and I just can't seem to get my total energy back.  I just seem more sleepy than I used to be.  Any Suggestions

Energy - what is that? I am almost 8 months out from last chemo and the fatigue is horrible. I try to force myself to be active, but I am simply exhausted. It doens't seem to be getting better for me either. My onc said that there wasn't much he could do. He said it could take 1 year from last chemo to start feeling better. I am so done with this cancer journey. When I have one "good" day, then several bad ones follow. But, oh well. At least we are survivors, right? Hang in there. It will get better.

Best wishes,

Pam

Hey there,

I am 2 yrs. out of chemo. and still experience periods of fatigue.  It's a real head-trip for me...."is this fatigue or depression?  is it menopause (compliments of chemo) or my lifestyle (3 school age children)?"  I then have to allow myself to GRIEVE....AGAIN, my different body, compliments of chemo. and surgeries!

I'll look at my diet and clean it up, improve on taking my supplements and remember the words of my Naturopath, "it may take 6 mos. to 2 yrs. to rebuild the cell's energy factories".

I am currently using an easy detoxing supplement and a super-mushroom product to lighten my liver's body burden and boost my immune system...especially those Natural Killer cells!  I had Cytoxan and have learned that it leaves a chemical residue in my body.  It's a process.. but I would rather it be DONE!

Be gentle, listen to your body and look for ways that fit you to support and heal it.  If we had had a glass layer to observe what the chemo/radiation/surgeries did to our system we/I might be a little easier on myself.

Hugs and Healing

Hi Zyradog,

I'm a cancer survivor and my father had cancer as well. I started a blog (www.CincoVidas.com) because I found little information about radiation and chemo therapy side effects.

A 10-20 minute walk alone can help you boost energy. You may want to start with Pilates or Yoga. Here's a post on a pilates progam that helps cancer survivors regain strength http://blog.cincovidas.com/starr-power-pilates-program-helps Also take a look at a post on the benefits of yoga during and after treatment http://blog.cincovidas.com/yoga-restoring-minds-and-bodies-d You may also want to, in order to regain your energy, stay away from sugar, starch carbs and focus on eating nuts, fruits, vegetables, lean proteins like fish and cereals like oatmeal.

I hope this helps.

Love, strength and survival,

Britta
