Mom recently had her kidney, ureter, and bladder cuff removed due to TCC high grade tumor in the right kidney. Tumor did penetrate the superfiical layers of the kidney but nothing else.    Doctor said follow up would be done to check for metz in lung.   Doctor sounded encouraging and said follow up for this was standard procedure.  Does anyone know the statistical or personal experience of TCC spreading after removed in a kidney cancer that was contained?

See "The Median Isn't the Message" by Stephen Jay Gould (at http://cancerguide.org/median_not_msg.html  ) for a discussion of the meaning of statistics for a cancer patient.
