RE: Nutrition supplement post small intestione resection

I would recommend Juven to help with intestine and surgical wound healing, that is if kidney function and liver function are within normal limits. Vital Jr. is a sole source supplement, like Ensure, only semi-elemental, that is very palatable. I would also encourage high pectin foods like bananas and applesauce to help gel his stool. It is also quite possible that a probiotic supplement, like Florastor, may be helpful, as he sounds as if he may be a risk for an opportunistic bowel infection. I would strongly encourage you to seek out help from your local Registered Dietitian, as these are only general suggestions based on limited information.

Nutrition supplement post small intestione resection

Hello , my father was suffering from psedomyxoma peritonei adenocarcinoma which had spread to part of the intestine . He had an extensive debulking surgery and quite large portions of the small intestine has been removed and a stoma has been made . Due to previous cyles of chemotherapy he was already pretty weak and the recovery post surgery has been slow , He has been losing lots of fluids through the stoma also . Can anyone suggest some nutrition supplements (elemental/pre digested ) which can help him avoid losing more weight due to mal-absorption. Please let me know if any more information on the case is required .ThanksShubhasish
