My mom died within 6 weeks of diagnosis - she had no symptoms at all but the lung cancer was found when she fell and broke a rib and they did an x-ray. The cancer just went like wild fire and took her in such a short time.  She only had symptoms the last two weeks - shortness of breath and decreased apetite.  So the truth of the matter for you may be that 2 years ago the lung cancer just was not there for your mom and that's why they didn't find it.  Two months - some lung cancers can just be that swift.  May you find some peace -  the grieving process can be long!

I m so sorry for your sudden loss.  The grieving process indeed is hard, very hard for me and my family too.  Sound like they could b mis-diagnosis.  The doctor perhaps did not know how to read the cancer marker :(   It happened to my dad in 2005 and led him to 2006 of colon cancer in stage 4.

Hi!

My thoughts are with you on the passing of your Mum x

My Dad took ill in the middle of October, and the Doctors were treating him for a pulled muscle! He had a full chest xray at the beginning of November because of a cough and it came back clear! By Xmas 08 he had lost so much weight and the Doctors were now treating him for Siatica! He got admitted to Hospital on the 29th Dec anbd his scans revealed Lung Cancer and Crumbling of the Spine, further tests revealed Bone & Liver Cancer!!! And Doctors were treating him for Siatica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We lost my precious Dad on 19th Jan 09, 3 weeks from when he was Diagnosed! He had went through 5 days of Radio and was told if he took Chemo he would get to the summer, he didnt want Chemo but I forced him to and as soon as the line went in my Dad was finished, he couldnt pass enough fluid, that was on the Friday and by the Sunday his kidneys were failing and he was rambling on and talking nonsense, I thought it was the Morphine but the Cancer was on its way to his Brain, we lost dad the next day. He fought for his life and had a very painfull Death. The question I wanted to know is how he had an xray in Nov and was dead by Jan, the doctors said it was a very aggressive form of Cancer, Small Cell and had travelled around his body with an alarming rate! My Dad was very fit and had ran 3 full marathons and was still working up till Nov 08, he was due to Retire at the end of jan which he never saw!

Life for us will never be the same without our "Rock" im an only Child and had to orgainise everything because Mum was like cotton wool, and still is. She due to retire next week and they had so much planned! Life just isnt fair!

Luv Andrea xxx
