waiting for the biopsy

I am going for a CT tomorrow and then a biopsy will be arranged. I found out two weeks ago that I had this spot on my pancreas, and by the time I actually know for sure more than a month will have gone by. I hate this waiting. I can't think of much else. My mom died of PC nine days after she was diagnosed and that is the source of my fear. I honestly don't feel sick, though I do have lots of digestive problems and I feel abnormally weak. I keep praying that it is something else, which the surgeon said is a possibility. Any advice from someone who has gone through this would be  appreciated.

Mrs. B,

My suggestion for you is to visit the Johns Hopkins Pancreatic Cancer Online Support Board.  It is much more active than this one and there are patients as well as caregivers who can answer your questions and give you lots of good info.  There is a lot of help available for you there and they are caring as well as knowledgeable people.

You can google their name for the web address.

 Good luck

Joan L.

This is not something they should be messing around with...you need to find another doctor who will get things moving for you. They found my spot and the next day I had a biopsy. It took 5 days to get the results back. After having a family member pass with PC your doctor should be moving alittle quicker on this. Call Johns Hopkins or Fox Chase Cancer Center for more information.

Good Luck!

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 with mets 9/08.  I didn't start treatment for about 3 weeks.  First chemo regimen was not effective.  I started another regiment in 1/09 which has worked so far.  What I'm saying is that you have time.  Your mother must have been diagnosed really late.

So, sounds like you can wait.  I had to wait for the biopsy after the CT scan and the had a Pet Scan and another biopsy before treatment started.  If you only have a spot on the panceas you may be a candidate for surgery, whipple or cyberknife.  Both are very effective treatments.

Best wishes.
