My name is Nadine P., I am 22 and currently receiving treatment at Christie's in Manchester, England. I have bone cancer that started in my arm but has spread to both my lungs. I have received enough treatment for the cancer to turn into bone and so now require surgery. Unfortunately the cardiothoracic surgeon that Christie's uses feels that he cannot perform this operation as I have an extensive tumor in my right lung. He is concerned that it may be attatched to my heart, diaphragm and gullet and so believes he may do more harm than good operating. I am trying to find an accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon, that has bone cancer experience, that will look at my scans to see if they can help. If anyone out there knows of anyone can they email me on --- Message edited by CancerCompass staff: for personal protection, email address removed. Please review CancerCompass Member Guidelines at http://www.cancercompass.com/common/guidelines.html --- I have my scans on cd and so could post them to any surgeon you suggest. Many thanks, Nadine.

Hi Nadine - Sorry you are going through this at such a young age. I saw a "cancer compass" article from Oct.24, 2005 on freezing tumours in place when surgery isn't an option. Being done at Harefield Hospital in Middlesex, England, Dr. Omar Maiwand claims it an option for extremely frail patients. A probe inserting liquid nitrogen is placed on the tumour, freezing it in place. It disintegrates the tumour in place over a period of several months. Check it out and good luck! Cindy
