Lung Mets - Symptoms?

How do you know if you are getting lung mets?  I feel sometimes like I cannot breathe as well as I used to and wonder if it has anything to do with that?  I had RCC and a right nephrectomy (radical) in January 08 and have followed-up with CT scans and blood work every 3 and then every 6 months thereafter.  It has now been 18 months and I am starting to worry because I have read that the recurrence rate average is 18 months - does anyone know anything about this?  Thanks.

Hi,  My husband has had mets to his lungs for over a year and he never had any symptoms.  Just found them through a routine scan before his surgery.  I guess you have to check with your Dr.   Wish you the best.

My lung mets after a radical nephrectomy appeared 11 years later.   I had a cough that wouldn't go away (if you could call it a cough).  I probably wouldn't have gone to the doctor except when I have had cancer once  I go to the doctor with anything now, and he fully understands.  I had a left nephrectomy in 1997.  If you are concerned then I would suggest you see your doctor to put your mind at ease.

Best of luck.

Hi I was dignosed with RCC in December 2007 and I had mets on my lungs. I had no idea I had anything on my lungs. I was put onto Interferon and the CT scans in April and September last year showed a reduction in the size and number of tumours.

I had my left kidney removed last January and in May I had my latest CT scan. I now have only 2 tumours on 1 lung, the largest has reduced from 2cm to 1cm the other is smaller and didn't change. I do sometimes think the right lung feels tight in my chest but I am not sure if that is anything. My cancer is classed as Stable but I will be going for CT scans every 3 months to monitor it.

My cancer was found due to bone mets. I had a tumour form on my left ankle and as it grew it caused pain and swelling in the joint. After 6 months an MRI scan spotted the tumour and more testes determined it was RCC.
