My friend was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, and basically told to go home and die, there was nothing they could do, this is too hard to accept. They said two weeks and that is it

Get your friend to another doctor ASAP.  Stage 4 is treatable.  It sounds like her doctor is playing GOD!  There are a lot of stage 4 survivors on this board.  What that doctor is doing is totally unacceptable.  Get her to another oncologist or take her to the ER at the closest hospital and don't wait to do it.

How did they determine stage 4?  Scans? Biopsy?  What type cancer?  Has it metastasized?

Good luck and God Bless

There is no way no one knows when it is the end of life.  That doctor just talks BS period.  When my dad aspirated & being over-sedated into coma, the doctors wanted us to pull the plug on the life support and said in couple days.  My dad ragged on for 3 more weeks!

See another Oncologist doctor, google to see where is the pronounced Doctor nearby and take him there.  Talk/ call cancer center of America for additional info.

Do you know what kind of Lung Cancer?  Is it already spreading to the brain?  If it is only spreading to the distant organs then there **might be** a chance to Prolong your friend's life.

Where does she live? I would not give up. Many Stage iV lung cancer people live longer. Find a teaching hospital, one of the big ones and get a second opinion. How does your friend feel? Can they travel to get another opinion? I don't know anything about your friend, but if this person is in bad shape, you may want to visit and be there for your friend. I'm sorry. Moon and Stars
