DIEP reconstruction after radical mastectomy

Hello,
I had cancer in 1996 which recurrence again in 2006. I had a radical mastectomy. On March 23, 09 I had a DIEP reconstruction done. I have healed quite well but am concerned about hard lumps now appearing along my abdominal scar line. I also have a large hard lump in my reconstructed breast.
Is there anyone who has had DIEP reconstructed with these side effects. I do understand that it may be just fatty tissue, however, sometimes I wonder?
Help?

Hi,

I had a DIEP in '07, I think what you have is scar tissue and you need to massage it to soften it.  It hurts to massage it but it won't hurt it.  The pain if from breaking up the scar tissue.  I had great success with my DIEP also and would do it again if I had too.  I had radition which canceled me out for implants.  Best of luck to you and I'm sure you will love your reconstruction.
