Hi: does anyone out there have any experience with leptomeningeal cancer from melanoma. A close friend was recently diagnosed with this type of cancer.

Sounds as if the melanoma has spread or metastasized to the tissue that covers the brain. She would need treatment for her melanoma and also treatment for the mets. The brain could be treated with radiation or some chemo injected into the intrathecal space.
Has your friend recieved any treatment?

Hi: the primary site was a small melanoma tumor on the surface of the brain that was removed june of this year. There were no other evidence of melanoma anywhere else till november when he was diagnosed with leptomeningeal cancer which was diagnosed by melanoma cells in the cerebral spinal fluid. He is currently receiving temozolamide which is given orally for 6 weeks. Do you have any other suggestions for treatment?

you might ask about intrathecal methotrexate or cytarabine or perhaps radiation.
