My boyfriend found out he had pancreas cancer april 4,2008.I looked up every food that would help him,and so far he is doing good. He's also doing chemo. The only problem he's having is he's skinny, can't gain any weight, and he's looseing muscle mass.He eats alot all day long. The only thing is that he eats healthy foods no sugar, not in any pain thank god. When he found out he had cancer they did a blood test called C19-09 his number was 1693,now his C19-09 is 25 which is normal.I make him eat alot of raw veg and for meat he eats chicken, turkey and fish.I make him a salsa with all raw veg which he eats alot it has tomatoes, cabbage, alot of garlic, red pepper, red onion, parsley, calontro, hot peppers, tumeric, rosemary, sea salt and olive oil.He eats it every day and it seems to help him. Also he juices alot.He juices carrots with a green apple five times a day,and a green leafy juice.Red chard, romaine, endive,a slice of green pepper and a peice of red cabbage plus a green apple. He does that four times a day. Also he eats any raw veg he can plus alot of fruits, red grapes, strawberries, blue berrys, mangos, oranges, and rasberrys,he costs me alot of money on food but hes worth it.He's doing good.

There is a product called Scandishake that promotes weight gain and my mother liked the way they taste.  Yes, it does have a lot of sugar, but it is also packed with lots of good stuff too.  At one point, when she couldn't eat solid food, she drank 4 of these shakes a day.  They are 600 calories each, but adding other things bulk them up even more.  Scandishake can be found at your local pharmacy or online.  If you buy more than one case at a time you get a discount.

If not diabetic: Scandishake powder with 1 teaspoon crushed almonds, 1 egg (or Egg Beaters), no-sugar-added ice cream and milk to make 2 cups

and

If diabetic: Glucerna with 1 teaspoon crushed almonds, 1 egg (or Egg Beaters), no-sugar-added ice cream.

Sorry you and your boyfriend are on this tough journey.  You don't provide much history but is your boyfriend taking enzymes?  Anyone with a compromised pancreas needs to take prescription enzymes so that the food they eat will be processed properly.  Ask your oncologist or GI doc for an RX for Creon 10 or one of the other enzymes.

You can get lots of good info from PanCan, an organization for pc patients.  Google their name for address, phone #, etc.  You might also want to visit the John Hopkins Online Pancreatic Support Group.  There are both patients and caregivers who have a lot of knowledge they are happy to share with you.  You can find them by googling also.

Good luck.
