ca of unknone primary

just need to talk my mother was told in nov. she had a very large tumer in her liver, they did a biopsy an said it was unknone were it started. pet scans, ct scans, xrays, an still cant find primary. she has had 6 rounds of cemo with ct scans after ever one but no change except she just gets sicker. she has a infection called cdif an one in her blood.this has happend 4 times, an she is in the hosp. now with it again, dotor says if she does not treat she has months to live. but if treatment is making her so sick that she cant do anything why do it. she is 75 an i am her caregiver i do not know what to do for her.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother.  Where do you live?  My father also has Cancer of Uknown Primary and has been in a clinical trial at Sloan Kettering in NY for almost a year now with great results.  His cancer is mostly stable (some weeks with small decreases).  He has little side effects as well.  The experimental drug is an oral drug called S-1.  It is also combined with a more common chemo, Avastin.  I hope this helps.

thank you for your though. we live in delaware. the doctor told us today that  it  has spread to the lung an she is to week to do any thing else, it is just a matter of time now. just wish i knew what to expet i do not want her to suffer long. hope everything goes well with your father.
