I finish up 5-fu, back in April "09". It left me with alot of neuropathy in my fingers and my feet...The doctor told me that it could takes months or years to get the feeling back...So I am learning to  deal with it..

And it about three weeks ago my sister was watching some special about cancer patients..This one woman had the same symptons as me. This lady starting to take Ginger Capsules. and the symptons were easy up on her in a about two weeks and in while in one month the neuropathy was gone.. So i have starting to taking Ginger Capsules..It's been about two weeks now..I have seen some of my fingers tips become back to normal..but my feet there is no changes...Most days i can not stand to walk cause of it...

I want to know if anyone else has try ginger capsules? Or is there anything else i can do to help this get better???

I know this will cause a problem for me when i go back to work..My family doctor is going to help me apply for disablity in my feet and hands due to the drugs from chemo.. I want to know also if this will be a problem?? I am 47 yrs.. Still have many years left to work.. I am very strong and patience my the neuropathy is getting the better of me.

Does anyone know what i could do or have suggest for me to go on.

Thank you.

HI,

MY Wife had chronic nuropathy, side effects of chemo and she takes  Lyrica and also a anti depressent table, she is not depressive but pain and management at hospital have had good results with this tablet with those who have nuropathy, which helps to tell the brain and sends  signals to the nerves. It takes  edge off her nuropathy and she can cope a lot better then she could before.

Also  a B complex tablet helps as it is for the nervous system.

I would ask my Doctor to put you on Gabepentin which I take daily its not a cure but it cuts down on the pain and for the burning feeling I will start on lidocaine to apply to the top of my toes and feet. I also have double the problem due to agent orange and the side effects of chemo. Good luck and give it a try.  Phil A.
