She stated just do not be complacent about it. To get my regular screenings. It is a scary thing. You wonder what is growing inside of you. My pcp says oh it looks like it was benign. But isn't stage 1 still considered cancerous. Should I be under the care of a gyn oncologist? Looking for answers

I am a 7 year survivor of granulosa cell ovarian cancer. I had the same surgery as you except I also had my omentum removed. I was stage 1a or 1c. There was an issue in the washings, so they weren't sure. For the first 5 years, I visited my gyn-oncologist every 6 months. I had a pelvic, pap, and an Inhibin A & B blood test drawn. The last 2 years, it was 1 x per year. Now, I'm considered good to go. I'm a RN and realize cancer doesn't play by any rules. . .My best advice to you is to listen to your body. If you feel something isn't right, don't give up looking for help until you find someone who will get the answer. Your chances are excellent for a long life. God bless.
