Hi. Sorry to hear about your sister. As you have found, gallbladder cancer IS rare, and I hadn't heard of it either until I was given the diagnosis myself last year. Please give a little more detail about your sister's situation (extent of the cancer and where does she live) and I'll be happy to let you know what I know.

Hello again. It sounds like your sister has already had considerable treatment, surgery being the major one, followed by radiation and chemo. If after that there is still more gallbladder cancer found in that area or elsewhere in her body, her doctors will have a tough time getting totally rid of it or "curing" her. Depending on her situation, chemo, and maybe some surgery depending, may help help the cancer at bay a bit (reduce it, slow it down, something like that). Unfortunately, most people who have GBC are in a similar boat, that is, this cancer is usually found too late to totally cure it, but remission is possible. If your sister is in the Chicago area, then she is blessed to have major cancer centers - one at Univ. of Chicago, one at Northwestern, nearby. And maybe others. I send best hopes and wishes out to you and your sister!

I also have gallbladder cancer but they were unable to remove my gallbladder because i9t was spread to much. I am now on Protocel 50 and I beleve that God will help clean up the cancer in my body.

I read your post and wanted to add a thought.

My dad went into surgery (may 20th) for gall bladder removal and to remove the top 1/3 of his liver(where they found a spot). It ended up being gall bladder cancer that had spread to the liver. They removed the gall bladder and as much of the liver as they could. Gave him 3-6 months.

Today is his last (20 sessions) of daily radiation and oral chemo(Xeloda).the doctors told him that with his treatment he was now looking at 60% survival. good odds I thought. The cancer can not be cured, but kept in check. we hope now. he will have to go back (not sure) weekly or maybe monthly for a radiation round at Duke.

There is hope for gall bladder cancer. His was apparently caught very early. His radiation did not make him sick, or any any problems so far.

We are excited and blessed to see his progress.

Hope this helps other readers.
