RE: PET Scan diet? What do I eat the day before?

My husband has had several PET scans and was never told to be on any special diet. The only thing he had to do was having nothing to eat or drink 6 hours prior to the scan. He was able to have a few sips of water, since his radiation damaged his saliva glands and his mouth was very dry.If you are diabetic you may need to find out if any special prep. They give an intravenous solution of a high glucose (sugar) concentration-if there are cancer cells present they will pick up the high sugar and show on the scan. Good luck with your scan.Kathy
