      <description>&amp;nbsp;On 6/18/2009 ptjosie wrote:I have now survived ovarian cancer and reoccurence 2007, 2008, 2009; 80% of the people diagnosed with ovarian cancer have a high CA 125 - so there are some false/positive results -&amp;nbsp;would it not be worth it to have this test done annually and to follow close surveliance for those showing positive - we still have those who do not show anything that will have ovarian cancer but maybe we can catch a few more cases - this also happens to mamograms but no one is saying don&amp;#39;t do it.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;I was under the care of an oncologist for 7 years following breast cancer/non Hodgkins simultaneously and was not given a CA125 - PET scan showed abdominal fluid - discovered I was Stage IIIc - Previously I had asked my gyn to please sonogram my oaries as they hurt - she said well based on your history, I guess we could do it...but PET scan diagnosis came before&amp;nbsp;GYN had scheduled test.Had the worse chemo for ovarian - IP - port in stomach and one in chest - went through hell only to have it return&amp;nbsp;within&amp;nbsp;6 month period.My CA125 has been an excellent tumor marker for my disease.Now using&amp;nbsp;cottage cheese &amp;amp; flaxseed oil daily to slow growth of cancer.&amp;nbsp; The cottage cheese is the&amp;nbsp;protein vehicle that carries&amp;nbsp; the flax seed oil to the cancer and helps breakdown the cancer cell so that it once again uses oxygen instead of sugar..&amp;nbsp;Thanks&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;I&amp;#39;m really sorry you had such a bad time with the IP chemo....&amp;nbsp; and sometimes I wonder if the treatment isn&amp;#39;t worse than the disease, but not sure what the answer is......&amp;nbsp; I do know I want to beat this monster... probably won&amp;#39;t, but not ready to give up yet...gonna give it my best shotYou are right about the CA125 blood test, I went to my ob/ gyn in Oct 2006, I specifically asked for the blood test, but he refused to do it..&amp;nbsp; said too many people were getting false positives, needless to say 3 months later (Jan 07)&amp;nbsp;I was diagnosed with OC stage 3C,,,,&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; I can&amp;#39;t help but wonder where the disease might&amp;#39;ve been in Oct, and if maybe it could&amp;#39;ve been caught at an earlier stage...&amp;nbsp; my advice to anyone who feels a need to do the CA125, don&amp;#39;t let the doc talk you out of it...&amp;nbsp; the ca125 has been a good marker for me and my disease too..&amp;nbsp; if a positive comes up, you can have numerous tests to rule out OC, but not much to do if it&amp;#39;s positive and you do have Ovarian Cancer but hope for the bestgood luck to you....&amp;nbsp; keep figting the battles...&amp;nbsp;</description>
