RE: suspicion of urine coming from stoma

HI my wife has a wet ostomy bag ( stool and urine) and sometimes she gets mucas which is normal and round her stoma it swells up. If I was you I would contact your oncologist right away and explain to them situation and let them look at you. It will put your mind at rest. EVERY BLESSING

suspicion of urine coming from stoma

hi there, i had colorectal tumour removed on 5th march this year, operation fine and pathology report on tumour was excellent, no back up treatment required, have temp ileostomy, from day1 i have had 90% liquid in my bag, stoma nurse said this was ok, when i came out of hospital this continued to happen, i reckon my bag had to be emptied on average 6 times per day, and sometimes 4 times during the night, to be fair it has levelled out slightly less than this now, but i still have to get up at least twice a night., i have spoken to stoma nurse on a few occasions and she seems to think that everything is fine, recently, by accident, on examination of stoma,i noticed liquid coming from the part just under stoma, sometimes it was clear, sometimes the colour of urine, i spoke to stoma nurse, she gave me sample bottle and asked to bring sample, i gave her sample and after checking she said they thought it was mucus, i am not convinced, i think the mistake i made was collecting both clear and urine coloured sample together, now i have swelling on my body around stoma, no pains, even when probing with fingers, can anyone help with an answer thanks
