RE: EC patient with great news

I am so happy for your mom. May I ask at what stage of EC was your mother when she was diagnosed? My mother was diagnosed of EC in late April 09. I was told it was advanced stage, but no number. Since the doctor found some spots on both lungs, they ordered PET scan which discovered light ups in lymth nodes, lung, liver, and lower abdomen area. She did lymph nodes biopsy but results came back negative. Per her radiation oncologist, they may have missed the biopsy. She had the stent placed in to help with swallow. But she has been experiencing a lot of pain ever since. She vomits a lot too. She is having radiation now, no chemo yet since she has been losing weight. Next week, she will finish her radiation and hopefully she can tolerate chemo soon. She was not given the option of surgery at diagnose since it is late stage with mets. She is feeling tired, nauseated, a lot of pain, lost of appetite. While I am still hoping for a cure, is it too unrealistic?

EC patient with great news

History: Hello all! I am a caregiver that mother was diagnosed in September of 07. She had chemo and radioation from October through December and responded well with minimal side effects (once we got the meds to minimize them). My mother had the EC surgery on Jan 29 and she recovered well. Her oncologist recenly found an enlarged lymph node near her left collar bone and it was removed. We got news last Thursday that it was malignant and that she has three options. (1) Do more chemo, (2) Clinical Trial or (3) Do nothing. A decision must be made by this upcoming Friday (May 31, 2008) so I decided to make an appointment for a second opinion. I am wondering does anyone have experience with the chemo with recurrent EC and how this has worked. Also, does anyone have experience with the clinical trials? I just need additional information about these new developments. Well, my mother decided to do high doses of radiation for 3 weeks and that did wonders. After the radiation she had a PET scan in March 09 that was clear and she just go results yesterday from a second PET scan that is clear. I wanted to post this message as an encouragement for those who are new to the board. I found myself here alot when my mother was first diagnosed, but not so much now. I have decided that I will continue to post updates about how she is doing. That information helped me tremendously, the good and the bad.I pray for all the patients, caregivers and family that are facing and EC diagnosis. Feel free to ask me any questions regarding my mother's treatment, I will be more than happy to reply.
