I am considering SIRT Spheres.  Can anyone tell me what their experience has been with getting that type of therapy?

DenMarie,

I haven't had Sirt Spheres but check out the attached article:

Also, you may want to check out colonclub.com.  Several of the posters on that site have dome Sirt Spheres.  Just search the messageboard on the site.

I have not had sir spheres but I attended the Liver Symposium in Chicago last month and have heard many encouraging stories.  I would recommend that you speak with an Interventional Radiologist who can evaluate your eligibility for Y90, Theraspheres, Sir Spheres, stereotactic radiation (cyberknife) and external beam radiation.  All have shown to be effective and have different applications.

Good Luck,

Kimby

My .mother was diagnosed with colon cancer with mets to the liver. (5 lesions) The Sirt spheres were done about 2 years ago via an angiogram

It had some complications because my mother was 85 atthe time, but it slowed down the liver cancer remarkably - the one consideration was the status of her being radioactive apparently this is for about  7 days - she was released from hospital after about 48 hours for us to cope with.

The complication she had was related to her heart, but she survived this.

It was an uncomforatble procedure but was found tocalcify the lesions, and restrict their growth.

A worthwhile procedure - there are things that relate to the quality of the person doing the insertion - that they go to the site that is intended etc, but that covered - go for it!
